Sui adds quantum-resistant signatures and reports Hashi testnet progress

The Sui Network has announced the integration of two quantum-resistant signature schemes approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). According to an official weekly recap from the Sui Network, the update provides cryptographic protection for both everyday accounts and high-value Move vaults against potential future quantum computing threats.

Under the new system, existing users can rotate to a quantum-safe key derived from their current recovery phrase. This process allows accounts to upgrade their security without changing their wallet address or moving funds. The foundation previously detailed a staged rollout plan for these signatures, which involves security reviews before deployment across the testnet and mainnet environments. The update is part of Sui’s broader effort to prepare account infrastructure for potential advances in quantum computing.

The technical update coincides with reported growth in the Hashi testnet, a bridge infrastructure project on the network. Sui officials stated that the Hashi testnet has processed over 1.1 million deposits and 165,000 withdrawals in the three weeks following its launch. The network also reported that more than 50% of all Bitcoin Signet transactions over the last two weeks were generated by Hashi-related activity.

To manage increased traffic on the bridge, the network has also introduced an “Overdrive Mode” specifically designed to handle higher withdrawal volumes. These figures were provided by Sui as part of its ecosystem update and reflect the project’s reported activity rather than independently verified network-wide measurements.

Other ecosystem developments noted in the network’s update include the recent launch of Hadron by Tether on the network, which provides rails for the issuance of tokenized equities, bonds, and commodities.

The update also noted the completed security assessment of Aftermath Finance’s Perpetuals V2 contracts. The 12-week audit by OtterSec resolved all reported advisories ahead of a scheduled mainnet launch on Tuesday.
