SlowMist Expands Stablecoin Security Push in Hong Kong

SlowMist used a series of Hong Kong events on August 28 to sharpen its focus on stablecoin compliance, agentic payments and digital-asset security. In its official event recap, the blockchain security firm detailed participation in three industry gatherings addressing how payment infrastructure and autonomous AI systems can operate with stronger risk controls. The central theme was that security and compliance need to be embedded into emerging payment systems rather than added after deployment.

SlowMist co-hosted “Through the Mist, Into Trust” with ME Group, bringing together participants from stablecoins, payments, AI agents, compliance and security. Discussions covered payment and settlement applications, treasury management, identity verification and permission controls for autonomous systems. The event placed trusted execution and continuous risk management at the center of the transition from conventional digital payments toward stablecoin and AI-driven financial workflows.

Hong Kong Stablecoin Rules Raise the Compliance Bar

The discussions come as Hong Kong moves from stablecoin policy development into active supervision. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s stablecoin licensing guidance requires licensed issuers to continuously satisfy regulatory criteria covering areas including governance, risk management and AML/CFT controls. That regulatory environment makes transaction monitoring and fund-risk analysis increasingly relevant to firms building stablecoin payment infrastructure in Hong Kong.

SlowMist used the event to formally announce its MistTrack & SlowMist KYT Partner Program. The initiative targets organizations and individuals working across finance, payments, compliance and security, with the company saying it will extend on-chain AML, Know Your Transaction and fund-risk analysis capabilities to more institutions and local markets. The program turns SlowMist’s compliance tooling into a distribution initiative rather than introducing a new blockchain or payment product.

Hong Kong’s regulatory framework is also becoming more operational. The Securities and Futures Commission issued additional standards in May for licensed virtual-asset platforms and corporations handling relevant stablecoins after the HKMA granted its first two stablecoin issuer licences in April. Stablecoin compliance is therefore shifting from theoretical policy toward concrete requirements for issuers and intermediaries operating within the territory.

AI Agents Add New Payment Risks

SlowMist also joined the Cypher Asia Intelligent Crypto Finance Summit and the AI x BTC side event. Founder Cos discussed recurring security failures involving private keys, phishing, supply-chain attacks and institutional permission structures, while Partner and CPO Keywolf focused on AI, Bitcoin and digital-economy infrastructure. SlowMist’s position is that automated financial systems create additional risk when agents receive authority to move assets without sufficiently strong identity, permission and verification controls.

At the AI x BTC discussion, SlowMist argued that security mechanisms should be incorporated directly into protocols, products and governance systems as more transactions become automated. That approach treats agentic payments as an infrastructure-security problem, not simply an AI usability feature, particularly when software can initiate transfers or interact autonomously with financial services.

The Hong Kong events do not represent a new protocol launch or measurable change in market activity. Their significance lies in SlowMist aligning its security and compliance business with two rapidly developing areas: regulated stablecoin payments and autonomous financial agents. Whether that positioning translates into wider adoption will depend on how institutions integrate KYT, AML and permission controls as these payment models move into production.
