Injective says May community buyback burned more than 55,000 INJ in under 10 minutes

Injective said its May Community BuyBack concluded on May 13, 2026, with more than $240,000 worth of INJ removed from circulation. The official Injective post also said rewards from the round were available through Injective Hub. This latest update is linked to Injective’s X post, the Injective Hub Community BuyBack page and the 2026 Community BuyBack guide.

May buyback closes after rapid May 6 participation

The May round opened on May 6, 2026, when Injective said the Community BuyBack was live and worth more than $196,000. That participation window reportedly filled in less than 10 minutes and drew the highest number of participants to date. The $196,000-plus figure refers to the value cited when the round opened and filled, while the later $240,000-plus figure refers to the value of INJ Injective said was removed from circulation at the round’s conclusion on May 13.

Injective’s official mechanics versus community posts

Injective’s official guide explains the Community BuyBack as a monthly onchain mechanism: eligible users reserve a slot on Injective Hub, commit INJ, receive a pro-rata share of ecosystem revenue, and the committed INJ is permanently burned after the round closes. The guide says burns, commitments, reservations and distributions are publicly verifiable onchain.

Community accounts repeated the under-10-minute fill and the burn narrative around the May round. The official operational status is that the May buyback closed on May 13, more than $240,000 in INJ was removed from circulation, and eligible users could claim rewards through Injective Hub.
