NAVI Opens Ethereum Vault for Sui USDC Yield

NAVI Protocol has launched its first EVM-facing vault, allowing Ethereum users to deposit native USDC and access lending yield generated through NAVI on Sui without manually operating a cross-chain bridge. According to NAVI’s official announcement, the USDC High Yield Vault uses Lagoon infrastructure to abstract the Ethereum-to-Sui process behind a single deposit workflow. Users can connect an existing EVM wallet rather than creating a separate Sui wallet for the initial deposit.

The product is already live. NAVI’s interface currently lists the Ethereum vault with approximately $12,800 in deposits, while Lagoon identifies NAVI Protocol as curator and USDC as the underlying Ethereum asset. The vault remains at an early stage relative to NAVI’s broader lending business, with NAVI’s platform currently reporting about $141.7 million in protocol TVL and $25.9 million across its vault products.

NAVI Abstracts the Bridge Rather Than Removing It

The deposit workflow is asynchronous. USDC first enters a Lagoon vault contract on Ethereum and remains pending until the curator settles the request. After settlement, NAVI can move the assets across chains and supply them to its lending strategies on Sui. The user avoids manually bridging USDC, but cross-chain execution still occurs underneath the product and retains bridge-related risk. NAVI explicitly states that part of the capital may remain on Ethereum while settlement is pending or liquidity is needed for withdrawals.

Lagoon’s architecture also means depositors receive tokenized vault shares representing their position. Its ERC-7540 infrastructure separates deposit requests, valuation and settlement rather than treating the product as an instantaneous token swap. Yield therefore comes from the underlying managed strategy rather than simply moving USDC from Ethereum to Sui. NAVI’s Ethereum vault currently displays a 9% APR, but that rate is variable and should not be interpreted as a fixed return.

The mechanism fits Sui’s broader effort to reduce blockchain-specific friction around stablecoins. The network already supports protocol-level gas-free stablecoin transfers, while Samsung Wallet is integrating USDC on Sui for eligible U.S. devices. NAVI approaches the usability problem from another direction by letting Ethereum users access Sui-based yield without directly managing the destination chain.

Ethereum Deposits Create a New Sui Liquidity Route

Sui’s official account described each vault deposit as new stablecoin liquidity entering its DeFi ecosystem, but the operational mechanics require a narrower interpretation. A deposit creates potential capital for Sui strategies once it has settled and been transferred by the curator, rather than guaranteeing that every dollar immediately appears on Sui. Pending assets and withdrawal reserves can remain on Ethereum.

That distinction matters when measuring adoption. The vault’s deposit balance represents capital committed to the Ethereum-facing product, while NAVI USDC Prime’s balances measure a separate Sui-side strategy. Similarly, Sui’s wider stablecoin activity cannot be treated as evidence that users have adopted this particular vault. The network is simultaneously expanding other DeFi infrastructure, including Bitcoin-backed lending through Hashi, illustrating how several new liquidity channels are being built in parallel.

The practical innovation is therefore cross-chain abstraction rather than the elimination of cross-chain infrastructure. Ethereum users can deposit native USDC through a familiar wallet while NAVI handles settlement, bridging and deployment into Sui lending markets behind the interface. Whether that convenience becomes a meaningful source of new Sui liquidity will be measurable through sustained deposits and assets actually deployed into NAVI’s Sui strategies rather than from the existence of the vault alone.
