Robinhood Adds AI Agents, Perpetuals and Weekend Trading

Robinhood Markets has unveiled a broad expansion of its active-trading platform, adding embedded AI agents, crypto perpetual futures and plans for seven-day U.S. stock trading. The September 29 HOOD Summit announcements push Robinhood further into automated execution, leveraged derivatives and round-the-clock market access, although several products are still rolling out or remain subject to regulatory review.

According to Robinhood’s official HOOD Summit 2026 product announcement, Robinhood Agents lets customers create an AI agent inside the app to research markets, build strategies and place trades through a dedicated agentic account. Trade approvals are enabled by default, but users can disable them and allow an agent to execute orders without individual confirmation. Agents can only access funds allocated to that account, and Robinhood says it does not supervise, monitor, recommend or audit agents.

The system also introduces Agent Apps, integrations with 11 data and analytics providers. Unusual Whales supplies options intelligence, Nasdaq provides market data, Token Terminal covers crypto fundamentals and Quiver Quantitative tracks congressional trading and lobbying activity. Robinhood is combining model-driven execution with specialized third-party datasets rather than positioning its agent as a standalone research chatbot. The company explicitly named OpenAI among the available model providers and is covering GPT-Luna usage costs through the end of 2026.

Perpetual Futures Bring More Crypto Leverage Onshore

Robinhood is also beginning a staged rollout of perpetual futures for eligible U.S. customers. Its announced markets include BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE, ADA, LINK and HYPE without conventional expiration dates. BTC and ETH contracts will offer leverage of up to 10x, while the other announced assets will support up to 3x. The contracts are offered by Robinhood Derivatives through Bitstamp, with stop-loss, take-profit and liquidation-price tools incorporated into the trading interface.

The move brings a product long associated with offshore and decentralized venues deeper into regulated U.S. trading infrastructure. That shift makes controls around perpetual markets increasingly relevant, particularly after prosecutors recently alleged that two former Robinhood engineers used confidential listing information to trade perpetual futures on Hyperliquid. That criminal case concerns alleged misuse of nonpublic information rather than Robinhood’s new product, but it illustrates the compliance issues that can accompany leveraged crypto markets.

The derivatives rollout also extends Robinhood’s broader crypto expansion. Its blockchain ecosystem has developed additional DeFi infrastructure, including Uniswap deployments alongside billions of dollars in cumulative DEX trading volume. Perpetuals add another layer to that strategy by expanding Robinhood’s U.S. offering from spot crypto and on-chain infrastructure into leveraged derivatives.

Weekend Stocks and AI Expand Trading Access

Robinhood also plans to extend its existing 24 Hour Market into weekends, allowing a selection of U.S. stocks and ETFs to trade through Bruce ATS. Weekend equity trading is not yet live and is expected in early 2027, pending regulatory review. Robinhood’s current overnight service runs from Sunday evening through Friday evening, meaning the planned expansion would close the remaining weekend gap.

Other Summit announcements include longer options hours beginning in October, up to 4x intraday buying power for eligible margin customers and Cboe-based binary contracts tied to company earnings metrics. Robinhood is entering this automation push as other financial platforms experiment with AI-driven regulated investment services. The broader shift is moving AI from market analysis toward direct financial execution, while the regulatory structure and user safeguards differ materially between products.

The next milestone is product availability rather than the Summit announcement itself. Broader U.S. access to perpetuals, regulatory clearance for weekend equities and measurable usage of Robinhood Agents will show whether these tools progress from staged rollout into sustained trading activity.
