Tether has created another 1 billion USDT on the TRON blockchain, extending the stablecoin issuer’s substantial footprint on the network. Whale Alert recorded the mint at 07:41:39 UTC on August 10, while TRONSCAN shows a related transaction seconds later transferring 1 billion USDT into the Tether Treasury. The operation pushed the token’s total onchain supply on TRON above 91 billion USDT.
The transaction requires an important distinction between tokens that exist onchain and tokens circulating in the market. Tether defines newly created tokens held in its treasury as “authorized but not issued,” meaning they are not counted as circulating until they leave treasury inventory. The 1 billion-USDT mint should therefore not automatically be interpreted as $1 billion of fresh stablecoin liquidity entering exchanges or crypto markets.

Minted Supply Remains Inside Tether Treasury
TRONSCAN confirms that transaction fb0e900a315bf8181a2c3c50abe1f3a66f7dee207d1e374035a7ad2a770c73e2 was successfully confirmed at 07:41:42 UTC and transferred 1 billion USDT from Tether’s multisig contract to an address labeled Tether Treasury. The actual mint identified by Whale Alert carries the separate hash dab215a82d0c6e98b89ffadc0b0bd1c5b1b328174ba23208633745b02e4d3129. The two transactions are related, but they should not be represented as the same blockchain operation.
Tether says inventory replenishment allows it to pre-authorize tokens before customer issuance, reducing how frequently its authorization keys need to be used. Treasury inventory can subsequently support new issuance when customer funds arrive, while redeemed tokens can also remain in treasury for later use. Holding newly minted USDT in treasury gives Tether issuance capacity without immediately increasing its reported circulating market capitalization.
TRON’s USDT Footprint Continues to Expand
The new mint comes as TRON remains one of the largest infrastructure layers for USDT. TRON DAO and Lookonchain both highlighted that aggregate USDT supply on the chain has now surpassed 91 billion tokens, extending growth from roughly $89 billion reported in June. TRON’s scale makes changes in Tether inventory on the network particularly notable, even when newly authorized tokens have not yet entered circulation.
TRON also handles substantial USDT transaction activity. TRONSCAN separately tracks millions of daily USDT transfers and tens of billions of dollars in daily transfer volume, reinforcing the network’s role as a major stablecoin transfer rail. That existing transaction base helps explain why Tether may maintain significant treasury inventory on TRON, but it does not prove what future customer demand will be.
The immediate takeaway is therefore narrower than a simple liquidity-injection narrative. Tether created 1 billion additional USDT on TRON and moved the tokens into treasury inventory, while the network’s aggregate token supply crossed 91 billion. Those tokens become economically more relevant to circulating liquidity only if Tether subsequently issues them from treasury into the market.
