Tezos closed July with activity spanning tokenized real-world assets, Etherlink infrastructure and security upgrades, according to its latest ecosystem review. Among the month’s main developments were the arrival of tokenized uranium on Kraken, the activation of Etherlink 6.6 and further work toward the broader Tezos X architecture. The July update shows much of Tezos’ current development effort converging around Etherlink as the bridge between existing Tezos infrastructure and new execution environments.
One of the most visible commercial developments involved xU3O8, the tokenized uranium asset issued through Metals.io, becoming available through Kraken using Etherlink infrastructure. Kraken’s own service infrastructure now lists xU3O8 on Etherlink as operational. The integration gives an Etherlink-native asset access to centralized exchange infrastructure while establishing a route that could potentially support additional assets from the network.
Etherlink Security Hardening Continues
July also brought Etherlink 6.6, which activated on July 18 as a security-hardening kernel upgrade. A subsequent technical postmortem from Nomadic Labs, Trilitech and Functori disclosed vulnerabilities addressed across versions 6.4, 6.5 and 6.6, including issues involving bridge accounting, sequencer key changes and potential denial-of-service conditions. Developers said none of the disclosed vulnerabilities had been exploited before the fixes were deployed.
The security work is particularly relevant because Etherlink is becoming a larger component of the Tezos X roadmap. Internal audits and testing identified most of the issues addressed in the three upgrades, while an external researcher reported the flaw that prompted version 6.5 through the Tezos Foundation bug bounty program. The sequence illustrates an upgrade process in which production infrastructure is being hardened while more ambitious interoperability features remain under development.
Ganesha Roadmap Hits a Security Check
The July recap also highlighted Etherlink 7.0, codenamed Ganesha, which proposed bringing Michelson contracts and Tezos accounts directly into Etherlink alongside Native Atomic Composability. The design would allow Michelson and EVM applications to interact atomically on a shared ledger while giving existing Tezos wallets and indexers greater compatibility with Etherlink. Those features are intended to narrow the operational divide between Tezos’ Michelson environment and EVM-based applications.
That roadmap subsequently encountered a setback. On August 6, the development teams said continued testing uncovered a security issue in the proposed Ganesha kernel and asked bakers not to approve its Mainnet activation. Etherlink Mainnet was unaffected because version 7.0 had never activated, and developers said a corrected kernel would be submitted through governance. The episode changes Ganesha from an imminent upgrade into a proposal requiring another security and governance cycle before production deployment.
Beyond protocol development, July included additional Etherlink integrations from infrastructure providers and DeFi applications, alongside TezCon 2026 in Seattle and updates to ecosystem analytics. These developments broaden the tooling around the network, but the more consequential operational story remains whether Tezos can expand Etherlink and Tezos X while maintaining disciplined security review as their technical scope increases.
The July review therefore captures an ecosystem expanding both its asset distribution and technical stack, while developments immediately afterward show why milestones should not be confused with finished infrastructure. Tezos made measurable progress during July, but the delayed Ganesha rollout reinforces that security validation and governance remain prerequisites for turning roadmap features into live network capabilities.
