InterLink Labs Launches Reverse Auction Buyback for ITL Token

InterLink Labs has opened the first phase of a reverse auction buyback for its ITL token after receiving approval from the InterLink Foundation. Instead of setting a predetermined repurchase price, the mechanism allows holders to specify how many ITL they want to sell and the price they are willing to accept. InterLink Labs will then prioritize the most competitive offers within its available treasury budget, introducing a bidder-driven approach to its token repurchases.

Phase 1 opened on August 10 and will accept submissions until August 24, 2026, at 23:59 UTC. Participants must also send a 0.1 ITL deposit to the official InterLink Labs Treasury wallet and provide the transaction hash alongside a BEP20 USDT address. The deposit is intended to discourage spam and will be returned when an offer is not selected. Successful sellers will receive payment directly in USDT after the submission period closes.

Holders Set the Asking Price

The auction reverses the usual structure of a fixed-price token buyback by making sellers responsible for proposing their exit price. InterLink Labs will review the submissions once the window closes and select offers based on their competitiveness and the capital available for repurchases. The structure can help the treasury discover the prices at which holders are voluntarily prepared to sell rather than imposing one uniform rate.

That does not mean the process functions like an open exchange order book. InterLink has not disclosed the size of the Phase 1 treasury budget, the amount of ITL it intends to repurchase or a guaranteed clearing price. Submitting an offer therefore does not guarantee that InterLink Labs will accept it, and the final quantity purchased will depend on the offers received and the treasury allocation.

The treatment of repurchased ITL is also more specific than the project’s earlier treasury proposal suggested. For this first auction, InterLink says the tokens will support rewards and activities tied to its upcoming First 10 Million Linkers Celebration Program. Any ITL left after those allocations is scheduled to be permanently burned.

Buyback Becomes Part of a Broader Treasury Strategy

InterLink initially proposed the reverse auction as a long-term treasury tool before moving into the current approved phase. The broader concept is intended to let InterLink Labs and potentially other ecosystem organizations acquire ITL using their own economic resources rather than depending exclusively on token distributions. The first auction will provide an operational test of whether voluntary seller bids can function as a repeatable treasury mechanism.

The launch also arrives as InterLink approaches, rather than has already reached, its 10 million-user milestone. Its official website currently displays more than 9 million InterLink IDs and more than 7 million verified users, while the project is running activities around the expected first 10 million Linkers. The buyback is therefore tied to an upcoming community milestone, not evidence that the network has already surpassed 10 million verified participants.

For ITL holders, the immediate significance is narrower than broader claims about token value or financial independence. The mechanism creates a voluntary route to offer tokens directly to InterLink Labs at a holder-selected price, but neither acceptance nor future auction conditions are guaranteed. The measurable outcome will be how much ITL the treasury actually repurchases, at what effective prices and how the acquired tokens are ultimately distributed or burned.
